Special Assistance Fund

In the immediate aftermath of a burn injury there are often urgent needs that the burn survivor and his/her family may not be prepared to address. Often these immediate needs are as basic as transportation to and from the clinic, perhaps short-term shelter or food vouchers. But they can be much more complex and costly, such as pressure garments to assist with burn recovery in order to minimize scarring. Whatever the situation, the Burn Institute Special Assistance Fund can help ease the financial burden for those already coping with the emotional stresses of caring for a burn-injured family member.

Through additional funding from private resources, the Burn Institute-Inland Empire is also able to provide assistance for more complex needs during the long process of healing and rehabilitation. The Burn Institute’s Special Assistance Fund helps with special needs such as medical supplies not normally covered by insurance (i.e. special physical therapy equipment), and services likely to assist in the recovery of a burn injury.
